Psychology Services at Comprehensive MedPsych Systems

Psychological evaluations are designed to explore anxiety, depression, reasoning, and motivation in order to better understand overall emotional functioning. Evaluations also help to determine symptoms that pre-date the injury, how they are exaggerated and if they are enhanced consciously or unconsciously. This helps physicians with medication management if required and allows them to make recommendations regarding psychological and/or psychiatric treatment.

Psychological evaluations are different from psychiatric evaluations in that objective tests of emotional functioning, cognition, personality and motivation are administered in addition to the diagnostic interview.

Testing is designed to identify issues associated with emotional status and psychiatric diagnoses. Overall, psychologists use tests and other assessment tools to measure and observe a patient’s behavior to make an accurate diagnosis and to guide appropriate treatment.
