Gesenia Sloan-Pena, Psy.D.
Dr. Sloan-Pena is a graduate of Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, California where she was awarded her Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology, an American Psychological Association (APA) approved program. At Pepperdine University she received training in neuropsychological evaluation and psychotherapy from the University of Southern California (USC) General Hospital as well as Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). Dr. Sloan-Pena also provided individual psychotherapy and psychological evaluations at the Pepperdine University Counseling Clinic. Dr. Sloan-Pena completed her internship at Kaiser Permanente Behavioral Health Department of Psychology/Psychiatry where she conducted neuropsychological and developmental evaluations as part of the Autism Clinic and Diabetes Clinic. Dr. Sloan-Pena also participated in the Behavioral Medicine Clinic where she assisted in training the Medical Residents. Dr. Sloan-Pena completed a second internship at the Clinical Evaluation and Guidance Unit (CEGU) for the Orange County Health Care Agency where she performed neuropsychological evaluations and provided individual therapy to foster/adopt children and youth. Dr. Sloan-Pena completed her Post-Doctoral training at Fullerton Neuropsychological Services in Orange County, California. In this position, she conducted neuropsychological evaluations and provided individual and family therapy to children and young adults. For three years Dr. Sloan-Pena has also worked in a private practice in Orange County, California completing neuropsychological evaluations for pediatric, adults and geriatric patients.
Dr. Sloan-Pena is well-versed in completing neuropsychological assessment for children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)/Asperger’s Syndrome, chronic medical problems, ADHD/ADD/Attention problems, Anxiety and Depression, learning disabilities and behavioral problems, traumatic brain injury, concussion/sports injury/CTE, epilepsy/seizure surgery, stroke and memory problems and dementia. Dr. Sloan-Pena is trained to complete the Autism Spectrum Diagnostic Schedule (ADOS) with children from 2 years old to adults. She is Bi-lingual Spanish speaking and able to conduct evaluations with Spanish speaking individuals. Dr. Sloan-Pena is currently completing a Post-Doctoral Residency under the supervision of Dr. Robert Stephenson, Dr. Kathy Baum and Dr. John Meyers.
