Jill T Schechter, MCS LCSW
Jill offers diagnostic evaluation and client-centered treatment of adults and adolescents through individual and family psychotherapy. Brief treatment or long-term psychotherapy is available for relief from symptoms resulting from biological, psychological and environmental stressors. Therapy focuses on assisting the client in forming realistic goals, and in building and maintaining healthy coping mechanisms and relief of symptoms. Jill works closely with parents whose children exhibit behavioral problems, providing psychoeducation on parenting techniques, as well as support.
Jill has experience in adult and adolescent residential treatment, community mental health, child welfare and co-occurring disorders (mental health coexisting with addictive behavior). Jill is direct, interactive and non-judgmental in working with clients suffering from severe and persistent mental health disorders such as bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. She has worked with gay/lesbian issues, chronic physical health problems and disability and grief/loss Jill liaisons with medical, psychiatric and legal professionals to provide continuity of care and resources as needed.
