The Silver Psychology Center was established in 1978 with the mission of providing high quality psychological services to Southwest Florida. In June, 2015 the Silver Psychology Center merged with Comprehensive MedPsych Systems (CMPS), the largest and most comprehensive private multidisciplinary mental health provider group in Florida. For the benefit of our patients and referral sources, the CMPS/Silver Psychology Center merger will allow for greatly expanded resources and staff to provide a much wider array of specialty services eventually including psychiatry, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), biofeedback, and neurofeedback services.

The growth of the Silver Psychology Center has come through referrals from doctors, attorneys, business and other professionals, as well as satisfied patients. Our practice is perhaps best known for its work with children and families. We have built a solid reputation for our expertise in the areas of psychological evaluations and the diagnosis of learning and academic performance problems. Our treatment may be problem-focused and short-term, or extended as necessary depending upon progress and the patient’s goals. The majority of our patients come to us due to personal problems related to everyday stress, as well as family and marital problems and for learning, cognitive, memory, and behavioral difficulties.

We are fortunate to have a number of specialists on our staff in the areas of child psychology, family psychology, and neuropsychology, whose training was attained from programs approved and accredited by the American Psychological Association. Dr. Robert Silver is notably one of the few neuropsychologists in Florida board certified in Neuropsychology and Dr. Deborah Silver is board certified in Clinical Psychology. This is the highest level of peer-reviewed competence and expertise.

The Silver Psychology Center has experience with a variety of neurologic and psychiatric disorders including:

  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Frontotemporal dementia
  • Vascular dementia
  • Stroke
  • Brain injury
  • Cognitive factors related to medical illness/treatment
  • Learning disorders
  • Attention Deficit Disorder
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Pre and Post surgical evaluations

Divorce is one of the most complex life challenges one can encounter in adulthood. Many of us have had exposure to the most dreadful of models regarding divorce, either by witnessing our own parents or friends as they struggle through this painful process. So many of us are limited in our thinking in regard to divorce, believing that custody evaluations will provide a solution when we are seeking to end the pain of separating lives and managing parenting responsibilities. While there is a place for custody evaluations, our experience has found that only rare individuals need and can benefit from this process. In fact, most divorcing parents who undergo a custody evaluation come to find that it is fraught with more potential harm than benefit for years to come, and that it creates more ill-will rather than restoring balance in their families. Parent Coordination  offers a less conflictual and more collaborative means to solve problems, decrease conflict, and stabilize as much as possible (rather than detract from) your child’s psychological and emotional well-being.
