Dr. Batchelor offers over 30 years of professional experience, beyond post-graduate training in clinical neuropsychology. Most comfortable working as part of the client’s care team, he advocates for effective communication between all parties concerned. Dr. Batchelor is comfortable with assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics presenting with symptoms of neurologic and/or neuropsychiatric conditions. He specializes in helping patients identify individual differences (strengths and weaknesses) characterizing adaptive learning skills and cognitive processing, social and emotional adjustment. Once specific obstacles to development, and personal adjustment are clarified, in coordination with the integrated care team, he can assist the individual pursue a comprehensive course of treatment to build on strengths, manage, improve, or resolve limitations.
Dr. Batchelor has highly specialized training and experience evaluating patients before and after neurosurgery, administering WADA testing, intra-operative language testing for adults and pediatrics with epilepsy, ateriovenus malformations, and intracranial tumors. He provides differential diagnosis and treatment recommendations for dementia subtypes. Dr. Batchelor is nationally recognized for research with Developmental Learning Disabilities, diagnosing specific learning disorders. He has served on the panel of examiners approved to evaluate impaired physicians in NC; provided Independent Neuropsychological Evaluations for disability and workers compensation companies, and competency evaluations.
